BBQ and Car Wash Fundraiser

Half a chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and a brownie...is your mouth watering yet?

Leander is all grins as he poses with our hostesses for the day-Judith Pieretti and Anne Smoak.

The serving line stayed busy the whole 3- I mean, 4 or 5- hours!

838 dinners later, and we have completed our May 8th BBQ fundraiser! We thought the plates would never stop coming down that serving line, but we were grateful for the work. A simple thank you doesn't seem sufficient for all the helping hands that volunteered this past Saturday. Your time and talents are greatly appreciated. From the meal prep, to line serving, to clean-up and dish duty, to car washing- your work didn't go unnoticed! It wouldn't have been possible without the many people who contributed. And we can't forget to extend a special thank you to Pat and Ella Meyers of Pat's BBQ for allowing us to use their restaurant (and all that water for the car wash). What a beautiful thing to watch God's people- from all backgrounds and denominations- work together to benefit His kingdom. This is what it's all about!

To date, we have raised $23,458.00 (all expenses paid) for the "Just One More" project through donations, boat drawing tickets, and the BBQ fundraiser and car wash.

Don't forget to check out our upcoming fundraising events in the fundraising tab at the top! We look forward to seeing you there.

Monday (4-19-10)

The Spirit of God is moving in his people, check-out what is happening:

Someone has donated a 16ft. bass boat (pictured above) so that we can sell tickets for a drawing and give all the proceeds to the JOM project. Tickets will be available by week end.

We have already received one (1) $5,000.00 donation along with someone else promising to donate at least another $5,000.00 dollars.

Someone else has agreed to match dollar for dollar any money raised for this project up to $10,000.00 dollars.

We have had a couple contact us willing to donate a 5-acre parcel of land if needed to build a new house on.

We have had a couple praying about a large house (3,700 SQFT) they own, which they may want to sell at a reduced price.

A local business (Pat's Bar-B-Que) is willing to open its doors May 8, 2010 to have a bar-b-que dinner and car wash to benefit the JOM project. Tickets will be available by week end.

This is just a few things that have come to my mind about this project over the last several weeks. This project is not only going to provide adequate housing for the Campbell's (so they can do their ministry), but it is also providing a avenue for us to tell others about Kingdom Builders and what God is doing in our lives. Remember your personal testimony is the greatest witness you have for Jesus Christ. Only God could accomplish so many things with one project. Maybe there is more than one reason this project is called "Just One More".

3-25-10 (Thursday)

Update; I dropped off (at Mike Rider's office) the executed contract offer today for the 315 Sirena Drive property/house. What does God have in store for the JOM project? Is this the location He has chosen?

I also received in the mail today a $5,000.00 check addressed to First Baptist Church of Lake Placid for the Kingdom Builders JOM project.

2 Corinthians 9: 6-7 (NIV) Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver :)

As I see what God has done today, just in the life of this project; I can't help but think about the lyrics to Keith's song "Amazing God"...Our God is truly an AMAZING GOD!

3-21-10 (Sunday)

LET'S MAKE AN OFFER...was echoed unanimously by all in attendance at Thursday's night Kingdom Builders meeting. The offer being on the property/house located at 315 Sirena Drive for the JOM project. It was decided by all that we will continue to walk through this door as long as God keeps it open, but if God closes the door we will then look for property and build the JOM project from the ground up. With that said, Steve Davis and I met with Mike Rider Friday, who has graciously agreed to help us submit the offer.

Romans 12: 1-2 (NLT) And so, dear brothers and sisters. I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask? Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

This is one of my favorite scriptures. I got to see this scripture verse acted out this afternoon through an individual who is being led by the Holy Spirit to make a sacrifice in his life to help further the Kingdom of God. This individual has a 16 foot bass boat (which he loves dearly) that he wants to sell (by means of a raffle) and give ALL the proceeds to Kingdom Builders for the JOM project...WOW...how awesome is that!

As we talked through this situation, it left me with the thought of what could I part with, that would truly be a sacrifice in my life for God's Kingdom? How exciting it is to see God already at work in this project. Continue to check the blog site for upcoming pictures of God's boat!

3-12-10 (Friday)

In the construction industry every project has a name. As we move forward with Keith and Dawn Campbell's project we have done just that...given it a name. That name (with the help of Keith and Dawn) is the Just One More (JOM) project. So from this point forward you can associate the Just One More (JOM) project with Keith and Dawn Campbell.

Next week (Thursday 3-18-10 @ 7:00 PM) the Board of Directors will be meeting to make a final decision about making an offer on a house located at 315 Sirena Drive. Please keep this in your prayers as we all try to discern God's will for the Just One More project.

2-8-10 (Monday)

Kingdom Builders is back in action, as God's will has been sought and prayers have been answered. Last Thursday, the Board of Directors discussed a new pathway they fell led to plow for the glory of God.

Keith and Dawn Campbell have the privilege of taking care of orphans with special needs. They also have the hearts and skill necessary to do so. However, they are quickly outgrowing their house and need a place better equipped to care for these kids.

We don't have all the details figured out, but as God unfolds His plans for this project keep us in your prayers. There is no doubt we will need financial help with this project.

James 1: 27 (NIV) Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

1-26-10 (Tuesday)

Wow...it has been a long time since I have done any blogging. :) I want to take this time to thank everyone for their prayers and support throughout 2009. As we move into 2010, God's Spirit is definitely moving, please continue to support and pray for this ministry. What is more important than God's Kingdom?

In my quiet time this morning, I was in Philippians (4: 8) where Paul was saying, "And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." If I wake up every morning focusing my thoughts on these characteristics, I can't help but be sensitive to the Spirit of God leading throughout the day.

Have a blessed day!
