Diggin' a Little Dirt

Sunday, January 23, 2011 was a day of new beginnings. The lot was cleared, the “stage” (AKA trailer) was set, and the cross stood tall. Cars lined up, people gathered, conversations were exchanged, and cookies were eaten. Tears were shed, house plans discussed, and concrete blocks sold. It was a celebration in every sense of the word. Just One More Groundbreaking was not “just one more groundbreaking.”

Scott Seignious shared the brief history of Just One More and Kingdom Builders, giving glory and praise to God alone. Among the Thirsty, a Christian recording band from Clearwater, played an acoustic set, with a song reminding us that no matter how little it seems, what we do for God counts big. Keith Campbell shared his and Dawn’s passion to rescue orphans, and Pastor Brett Morey encouraged and prayed.

Of course, we can’t forget the actual groundbreaking. Golden shovels cleared some dirt at 109 Jackson Street. We are “officially” under construction. Dawn Campbell seemed to dish the most dirt. In anxious anticipation of a finished product, she encouraged everyone saying, “Come on! What are ya’ll standing around for? Grab a shovel!” It’s clear that she’s a mother to many with no time for standing around!

To see the support of our community is overwhelming. What God is doing through this project is “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

We want to thank everyone who helped from the bottom of our…blog : ) From lot clearing and cleaning (Bull Griffin, Steve Blount, M & P Trees, Bobby Prescott, and Steve Davis) to set-up and sign painting (Walt and Renee Kohl), to trailer provisions (Edward Smoak), we cannot express our full gratitude! Kingdom Builders would not be possible without the support of many behind the scene helpers.
