9-7-08 (Sunday):
This whole week our men’s Sunday Morning Small Group has been studying Ministry (serving others) in the "Purpose Driven Life" book by Rick Warren. The scripture passage that stuck out from this weeks study was Philippians 2: 1-5--Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and sympathetic? 2Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose. 3Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression one others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. 4Don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing. 5Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had (NLT)

Today Terry Weaver and I went to visit Mrs. Wilson and her family, Upon our visit seeing Mrs. Wilson’s humble and servant spirit, we received further confirmation from God that we were moving in the right direction. It was in this initial meeting we realized the important part she plays in all the kids lives that frequent her home each day. We all shared our hearts reading scripture, and rejoicing in God. Before we left we were able to meet more family, share more scripture (specifically Philippians 2: 1-5) circle up in the front yard and pray that God would lead us through this project.

As we drove away I will never forget the words Terry Weaver said, “We need to build that woman a house”. He also said, "It was easy to help someone, who for so long has humbly helped so many others day in and day out". Terry and I agreed that we would get his wife Toni to take a video of the family and house before demolition.
