We Have Moved!

We have a different kind of project under construction- our new blog hosted on Wordpress! Our new address is: www.kbministries.wordpress.com. We hope that you'll enjoy our new site, although we're still in the process of moving (so excuse the "dust"). Thanks to Steve Blount the slab fill dirt is in place. Bevis Concrete started forming the slab yesterday. This morning Mike Bevis Jr. was on site starting to dig footers with his son and several of his son's friends. God continues to work through so many people on this project:)

Block walls are not far from starting and as of to date we only need to sell 168 more blocks ($5.00 each) to reach our goal of 2,800blocks...please get the word out, the "Block Party" is almost over!!!

Living Stones

"You also, as living stones are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:5

You, yes you. A living stone. Fully alive to faith in God, and fully grounded on the foundation of Jesus Christ. Designed to be firm and steadfast, immovable. And shaped to contribute to something bigger than you could ever imagine -- a spiritual house for the kingdom of God! He takes our little nothingness and transforms it into something that can be used for His glory. What an honor to serve as a living stone!

But, can a house be built with only one stone? "So we, being many, are one body in Christ and individually members of one another" (Romans 12:5).

And, can a house be held together without masonry? Certainly not. "And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist." (Colossians 1:17)

Thanks to God and Mike Bevis Sr. (Bevis Concrete) the footers were dug, inspected and poured today!

IT IS OFFICIAL...WE CAN START :)

As of today, the newly engineered foundation drawings have been approved by the Highlands County Building Department. Yes...you read this correctly, we can now officially start digging footers for the JOM house.

Sweet Redemption Wrap-Up

Who would have ever guessed that God could raise over $30,000 with less than 300 people in one night?! We were overwhelmed, to say the least, when we heard the total amount. It reminded us of how big a God we truly serve and also how the love of God is poured out through people in this community.

The money raised is just a bonus. The best part of Sweet Redemption was bringing together people from all walks of life to reflect on the Good News of our adoption as children of God, if we take that step. Though we had some technical difficulties, the message was proclaimed, and we pray, hearts were changed.

Praise God for the individuals associated with the "Grow Strong Boot Camp" exercise class! Toady we received $910.00 in donations from several class members.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

The water meter has been set by the Town of Lake Placid along with a temporary water supply connection by C & C Plumbing. Sorry to say...that we have hit a little road block with the site and concrete slab scope of work. There is a substantial elevation drop from one side of the property to the other, which is effecting our original (approved) concrete slab design. Last week I had a meeting with Bo Seignious, Grif Broach, and Steve Blount to discuss this issue, and concluded that we need to revise the foundation drawings showing a stem wall type foundation, submit to the engineer for approval, and resubmit these drawings to the Building Department for final approval. While this process is taking place, Steve Blount is going to go ahead and start moving dirt around so that we can establish a finished floor elevation.

We were blessed today with the sell of 1,120 blocks...totaling $5,600.00 dollars. Keep praying as we only have 934 blocks left to sell.

1) Prayer for KB/JOM project.

2) Electrical Permit was applied for and issued.

3) Application for temporary power was completed and forwarded to Progress Energy.

4) Temporary power service/pole staked for installation.
5) Application for City Water was issued; in preparation for the Town of Lake Placid to set a water meter for construction and permanent water use.

6) A financial donation (unexpected) that will cover the $2,300.00 charge for the water meter installation.

7) Watching God's miracles at work:)

We have 2,072 concrete blocks left to sell!!!

We have sold 728 concrete blocks to date.

JOM PROJECT UPDATE

As of this afternoon, I have two sets of engineer stamped JOM house plans in my possession. Tomorrow we hope to start the Highlands County Building Department permitting process.

Just a short little note that my prayers were spoken on this ground today. A place that fills me with joy-a place that feels like home already and there isn't even a home built yet-a place where God's most precious will reside.

As of 7:30 AM today, I am fasting till Sunday morning in my renewed commitment to the JOM project and God's word.

JOM PROJECT UPDATE

I met with Grif Broach today to review the plans before he makes the final drawings. These final drawings will be submitted to the engineer for review and approval; hopefully next week. Once they have been approved by the engineer we can then start the permitting process with Highlands County (Building Department, Road & Bridge Department, Engineering Department, and Health Department).

Thanks to Steve Blount, site work preparation has begun by removing the necessary trees, which were in direct conflict with the house pad.

I checked the JOM box yesterday and did not find any notes left. Please leave written prayers, prayer requests, scripture texts, testimonies, etc... that God may have laid on your heart concerning this project. We will review notes, pray and post on the blog as we see fit.
